French Film Icon Anouk Aimée Dies at 92
Anouk Aimée, the French film icon known for her luminous beauty and captivating performances, has passed away at the age of 92.
Her agent, Sebastien Perrolat, confirmed the tragic news, reporting that she had died at home in Paris.
Anouk Aimée was born Nicole Françoise Florence Dreyfus on April 27, 1932, but she quickly adopted the stage name Anouk Aimée, which means "grace loved" in French.
She made her film debut in 1947, and over the course of her long and illustrious career, she appeared in more than 100 films, working with some of the greatest directors of the 20th century, including Federico Fellini, Vittorio De Sica, and Claude Lelouch.
Aimée's most famous role is undoubtedly that of Anne Gauthier in Lelouch's 1966 classic "A Man and a Woman." Her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, and the film itself won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Aimée was also known for her work in films such as "La Dolce Vita" (1960), "Lola" (1961), "Amour" (2012), and "The Nun" (2013).
